Our commitment to raising awareness around mental health: New program to help rehabilitate mental health claimants and video highlights of HEADWAY, our employer event on mental wellness at work.
Mental health is becoming increasingly important in today's society and at CommInsure, we're committed to raising awareness around this significant issue. We're therefore delighted to announce the launch of our Back to wellness program - an initiative designed to not only raise awareness around mental health, but also to help rehabilitate members impacted by mental health concerns.
Helping members return to wellness
From August 2016, eligible members who submit income protection claims, where a mental health condition is the primary cause, will benefit from a tailored and flexible mental health plan which aims to support them to get back to work and wellness. Some of the benefits include:
- A simple and straightforward claims process, focusing on recovery and positive discussions rather than administration and incapacity levels.
- Dedicated support from highly skilled professionals, resulting in a deep understanding and a more tailored, individual service.
- A focus on collaboration with all involved parties, helping to facilitate an optimal treatment plan and aid in the identification and removal of any recovery barriers.
What about employers?
For members who choose to involve their employer in the program, they too can benefit. The CommInsure Back to wellness employer education material helps employers to effectively prevent and/or manage mental health conditions in the workplace.
Promoting mental health in your workplace
The launch of the CommInsure Back to wellness program closely aligns with our employer event, HEADWAY, which focuses on the ways employers can reduce the prevalence of mental health conditions in the workplace. Keynoted by Rachel Clements, a registered psychologist and leading expert in the area of mental health at work, the event provides information around:
- employers 'duty of care' and other legislative obligations
- tips on how to identify the 'early markers' associated with mental health issues, and
- practical tools to help prevent mental health concerns in the workplace - that don’t cost a thing!
